U.S. ARMORY ISSUE SMITH & WESSON 38 SAFETY HAMMERLESS 2ND MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 38 S&W. Blued finish, 6” keyhole ribbed bbl with 2-pc monogrammed black hard rubber grips. Left side of the ejector housing is stamped with a small “U.S.”. This revolver was shipped to Springfield Armory May 28, 1890 in a shipment of 100 such revolvers. SN 41394. CONDITION: Very fine, all matching including the grips. Retains about 95 % blue overall, with flaking and patina on the cylinder and some fine spotting on the right side of the frame. Trigger retains about 50% faded case colors. Grips are fine and show moderate wear turning chocolate. Brilliant shiny bore with a couple small spots of rust, fine mechanics. 4-48114 JR199 (Anderson Collection) (3,000-5,000)
