STEPHEN PAUL DAY “SALOME” SCULPTURE. Wonderful glass and metal sculpture depicts Salome; the temptress of the New Testament who led to the death of John the Baptist. The bronze base rests on four feet terminating in crocodile heads which support a platform with twisted bronze wire and a serpent spiraling upwards. Among the platform, wire and serpent are cast figures of various temptresses including a mermaid, a dancer and several nudes as well as a cast glass crocodile head. The sculpture is topped by a heavy cast bust of Salome in amber glass with patches of lavender and white. Bronze pedestal is impressed “Salome”, the glass bust is also impressed “Salome”.
