3PC TIFFANY STUDIOS 9TH CENTURY DESK SET. Three pieces include a rocker blotter, inkwell and pen wipe. Having bands of carved ornaments and deeply cut strap work, this pattern is one of the most elaborate of all Tiffany Studios desk set patterns. 9th Century design usually has grotesque animals associated with them. Tiffany Studios used creative licensing and used art deco looking animals such as squirrels and ermine featured on three pieces. Further accenting these piece are many blue and green glass jewels. Signed “Tiffany Studios New York” and numbered. SIZE: Rocker blotter: 5-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. Inkwell: 4-1/4″ sq. x 3-1/4″ t. Pen wipe: 2-1/4″ sq x 2″ t. CONDITION: All pieces are very good to excellent. The inkwell and rocker blotter show moderate wear to gold finish. Inkwell also shows oxidation to interior of lid and carries a replacement glass insert. 5-62558 (2,000-2,250)
