HANDEL EXOTIC BIRD TABLE LAMP. Rare teal background, reverse painted shade features two pairs of exotic birds painted in vibrant hues of purple, magenta, yellow and orange with a large floral and foliage pattern in bright colors of yellow, deep rouge and deeper teal. Shade is supported by a simple three socket base that carries a dark finish and is completed with top cap and finial. Signed on the interior bottom rim “Handel 7036” with artist initials. Shade is also signed on the metal rim “Handel Lamps Pat’d No. 979664”. This shade may be further referenced in the book Handel Lamps: Painted Shades and Glassware by DeFalco & Hibels, pg. 26 where it is shown in original watercolor. SIZE: Shade is 18″ dia. Overall 23″ t. CONDITION: Lamp is very good to excellent. Base has one replacement socket. 5-69656 (8,000-12,000)
