MT. WASHINGTON GLASS INKWELL. Rare Mt. Washington square inkwell is done in black glass with rectangular panels on each impressed with flowers and leaves. The top of the inkwell is fitted with a metal collar and knob which screws and unscrews to regulate the flow of ink. The center of the inkwell is a clear glass ribbed neck with opening at bottom for dipping the pen. The interior of the inkwell contains a tin reservoir for the ink. The bottom of the reservoir retains the original paper label with instructions and “Mt. Washington Glass Co., New Bedford, Mass. Headquarters in America for rich cut and decorated glassware. Sole Prop’s & Mfr’s of Darling’s Patent Ink Stands”. The front edge of the inkstand is impressed “Pat. Aug. 30 1887”. SIZE: 3-1/2″ sq.
