MEDICINE LAMP. Nickel-plated brass lamp with white milk glass shade. Removable kerosene font. The base of the lamp is signed “THE STANDARD NOVELTY COMPANY PAT APR 5 1886 NEW YORK”. The lamp base contains a key wound clock mechanism manufactured by “THE ANSONIA CLOCK COMPANY”. The clock mechanism caused the shade to move indicating the current time. The purpose of the lamp is as an aid to tell the person when his next medicine dose was due. The arrow attached to the top of the shade indicated that time. SIZE: 6 1/2″ tall by 5 1/2″ wide.
