MUTOSCOPE VIEWER. A classic penny operated mutoscope viewer. This one featuring the “Virgin of Bagdad”. For a penny you would crank the handle, the light would come on and you would be able to view the “nudey” scene for a short period of time. Of course, it would take more like six or seven cents to view the entire reel. Reels and marquees were interchangeable and there was an abundance of different scenes anywhere from nudey scenes to comic character to scenic views etc. These machines produced a great deal of income for the operators with little maintenance required and the only expense would be the changing of reels and marquee cards. A stamped steel and iron machine with a cast iron marquee, the machine has been restored and is in operating condition. SIZE: Overall 72″ t. Machine is approx. 13″ d x 8″ w. CONDITION: Overall is very good. Reel shows some aging and decay to bundle but largely intact. 1-11988 (600-1,200)
