HULL & STAFFORD CLOCKWORK LOCOMOTIVE. Extremely scarce and early clockwork locomotive with certain folk art appeal. With a most unusual wood base, boiler front, and chimney it was brightly stenciled and pinstriped. Remainder of toy is hand painted tin with two cast iron wheels, early tin bell, a strong clockwork motor, and an unusual back wheel one would not find on a standard train of the period. When toy is wound, horizontal pistons pump and toy rolls along the floor. SIZE: 9″ l x 7″ h.
