DUPONT SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER SIGN. Sign consists of two off-set printed scenes framed together with a factory printed matte board. Scene #1 is by artist Charles Christywood, captioned “Burn DuPont Smokeless Rifle Powder in Rifles and Revolvers” and depicts a U.S. Cavalry soldier on horseback, taking down a buffalo with his pistol. Scene #2 is by the American artist Edmund Osthaus of a pair of English Setters on point. Printing on the matte board reads “E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., Wilmington, De. – Manufactures of DuPont Smokeless Powder”. Though this dual image sign surfaces on occasion, it is uncommon to see it with ad copy as it appears here.
