STEAMSHIP “RMS MAURETANIA” SELF-FRAMED TIN SIGN. Impressive chromolithographed tin sign of the 790 foot long ship built for the British Cunard Line in 1906 for their New York to Liverpool passenger service. Close examination reveals finely detailed decks with passengers and crew members, and massive glass skylights located between the stacks for interior daylight illumination. The Mauretania served as a British troop carrier during WWI and later as a hospital ship until 1916, returning to civilian passenger service in late 1919. SIZE: 39” w. x 28” h. CONDITION: Has had some professional color touch-up to scattered surface blemishes, but with the exception of a minor scuffs to the border paint, it displays in near excellent condition. 1-10475 (750-1,250)
