INITIATING BANK, 2ND DEGREE.

INITIATING BANK, 2ND DEGREE. Manufactured by Mechanical Novelty Works in Connecticut. An old man sits upon a goat. This figure is pushed back into position, and a coin is placed on the old man’s tray. When the figure is slightly pushed forward, the coin slides into a frog’s mouth, depositing coin. Even though this is a well cast bank, it was not eye-appealing for a child because of the somewhat grotesque figures and muted colors. Hence it was not a good seller and made the bank fairly rare. SIZE: 7-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Under a black light, bank appears all original, but it is possible that this bank is an early restoration and the goat’s legs repaired/recast. Overall very good condition. 1-9873 (1,200-1,800)
