IVES CAST IRON WALKING MONKEY. A wonderful toy that is rarely found! This particular toy was made as a monkey and Ives also manufactured the crawling baby; both toys circa late 1880s. The iron parts have a japanned finish and facial features applied (eyes and mouth). Dressed in a cotton print with lace trim and a fur tail. The monkey most likely had a cloth bonnet at some point and was stitched to the hole on the right and left of head. A really unique and seldom found toy. SIZE: Approx. length 6-1/2″. CONDITION: Overall pristine to near mint. 1-10380 (1,500-2,500)
