SPANISH DOUBLE DECKER BUS. We believe this to be an early Spanish double decker bus with an unusual spring-driven clockwork motor. Hand lettered on upper sign board “HOTEL REINA VICTORIA Y NIZA / BANOS deo CARMEN”. Semi-circular stairway going to second story with handrail that circles the top of the bus. Five rows of seats on top deck and five rows in the bottom level. Surrounded by open windows with glass clerestory windows. Other details include windshield, driver’s seat, steering wheel, radiator cap, stamped hood louvers, cast headlights, upper spot light, tail light, and radiator shell with embossed nameplate. It has a very ingenious clockwork (works) that is wound from the front crank of the lower radiator. Bus is full fendered with tin wheels, rubber tires, and it is very intricately designed and shows a lot of craftsmanship. SIZE: 20-1/2″ PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Fair to good, a significant amount of paint remains with most notable wear to fenders.
