PATENT MODEL: WEIGHING APPARATUS. E.P. Furlong & Thomas Leavitt, inventors. Patent #26,757; dated January 10, 1860. Earlier patent model with desirable low patent number. Bent lever balance scale mechanism consisting of two brass pans and gauge suspended from wooden framework. This improvement was designed to automatically weigh small objects without the need to change the index or counterweights by hand. Retains original patent tag and contemporary copies of original patent papers. SIZE: 12″ w x 12″ h. PROVENANCE: Alan Rothschild Patent Model Collection.
