MAMMOTH KENTON SEDAN. Most likely one of the rarest toys in Larry’s collection, this Kenton sedan is elephantine in size and one of only two known surviving examples. The other is in the Smithsonian Institute. That particular example was part of the Sears Collection. They made replicas during the 1970s of this toy and several others and sold them in the Sears catalog. This particular example came from a factory worker in Kenton, Ohio to Bill Robinson, a toy and bank collector, through an intermediary. When Larry found out about the existence and location of this toy, he actively pursued its purchase. The frame enameled in black and the car body enameled in robin’s egg blue with gilt trim with black window and roof painting. Four iron tires and a spare with the trademark Kenton “Stop Go” coloring on rear and dated “1926”. Driver contained within, but possibly not a Kenton driver. Amazing for the size and weight that this car is free of any damage to the iron castings and truly a rare opportunity for the collector of automotive iron to purchase such a unique and interesting item. SIZE: 12-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From the collection of the late Larry Seiber of San Jose, CA. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. 1-9126 (10,000-20,000)
