RARE LUKAT GAMBLING MACHINE. Produced in the 1930s, this example was one of two that was never placed on location although the operator had many others that were in various locations in the Ohio/Indiana area. An extremely rare and desirable figural gambling device, as well as a gumball vendor. When a coin is placed in the slot the prospective player would pull the cat’s tail and a paper ticket would be dispensed from the cat’s mouth and a gumball could be had by pressing the lever causing a gumball to appear between the cat’s front paws. Appealing to machine collectors as well as folk art collectors, the cat is in repose and mounted to a wooden base that also serves as the coin receptacle/money box. Oftentimes missing, the original award card/frame is present with this machine. Enameled in a folk art style, the machine is painted dark green with gold swirls and a natural wooden base. An ingenious mechanism contained within the cat containing a receptacle for gumballs and a near complete roll of paper tickets. SIZE: 14″ l x 10″ h. CONDITION: Overall near mint. Older paint restoration to metal award card frame. 8-76227 JL (15,000-20,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
