LARRY DYER “DAYTON WHEEL” GAS POWERED RACER. 1940s contemporary type tether racer powered by an early spoke head spark ignition Atwood Champion gas engine, which is hooked through to an encased ring & pinion rear axle. The wire wheels are hand laced and are supported by semi and quarter elliptic springs that support steerable front wheels. Complete with hand crafted grille and 3-part hinged hood. The cowl and tail are made from cast aluminum and the windshield is hand fabricated as are the fuel pump, handbrake, exhaust header, steering wheel, dash details, leather seating, etc. The brilliant graphics including stylized flames, “Dayton Wheel” and “35” were hand enameled by Buz McKim, one of the top detailing artists. Dyer’s cars rarely come to the market, and this is a splendid example. SIZE: 19″ l. CONDITION: Near excellent. 1-7633 (1,500-2,200)
