RARE EARLY FIRE HOSE REEL MODEL CARRIAGE. Upon close inspection, one can envision the time and effort that went into creating this early, 1860s (?) fire hose reel. The wheels as well as the hose reel frame each have painstakingly been cut and trimmed from a single piece of steel and/or brass. Particularly interesting is the delicacy to which the hose reel has been adorned with elliptical cutouts and mirrored center sections. The original toolbox is still present on the back as well as a crescent shaped emblem attached to a pole that would support the fire marker. Carefully engraved upon the emblem is the name “Suffolk”. Of unknown manufacture, but believed to be Continental. In as found, untouched condition. SIZE: 21″ l. CONDITION: Overall very good plus, lacking one bell. Eisenglass lacking from fire lantern. Original hose shows signs of deterioration. 1-7090 JL (1,000-2,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2007 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
