SINO-JAPANESE WAR WOODBLOCK PRINT. Japan, late 19th Century. Depicting a Chinese cruiser sinking by the bow during a naval engagement of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894. Japanese flagship Mastushima visible upper right. Signed and titled in margins. By descent through the family of Phillo N. McGriffin, Captain USN, who served aboard one of the two Chinese cruisers able to escape the battle. SIZE: 14-1/2″ h x 28-1/2″ l (sight).
