NICE SALTGLAZE VERMONT CROCK WITH BIRD DECORATION. New England, 2nd half 19th century. This four gallon example marked “E NORTON & CO/BENNINGTON VT./4” and decorated with a songbird on a leafy branch in underglaze blue applied with c-scroll handles. SIZE: 11-1/4″h x 11-1/2″dia. CONDITION: With a tight hairline crack on proper right side, running from base to handle with bubble losses to under-glaze blue decoration. Otherwise good. 9-23827 (300-500)
