ALEXANDER VASILIEVITSCH GINE (Russian, 1830-1880) CAMPFIRE. Oil on canvas nighttime scene shows a calm body of water surrounded by low hills under full moon which is seen through blue sky and white to dark clouds. A peninsula with trees can be seen on the right with three figures around a blazing campfire. A small flock of birds can be seen above the treeline. Signed lower right. Housed in what appears to be its original gesso decorated frame. SIZE: Sight: 12-1/4″ x 17-1/2″. CONDITION: Small area of loss in sky, some small flecks in lower left ground, otherwise very good. 9-24842 (10,000-20,000)
