FINE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT CARVED OAK ARCHITECTURAL DISPLAY CABINET. Last quarter 19th century. In two parts, the upper section with stick and ball gallery alternating with carved foliate shell crests above the molded cornice fitted with three glass panel sliding doors counterweighted and rising through the front of the cabinet. Interior fitted with three adjustable shelves. Cabinet stepped back on a cupboard base fitted with an arrangement of six aligned short drawers above six small cabinet doors, each sliding on tracks. The whole with recessed molded rectangular panels. Pilasters of top and bottom fluted and with incised carved floral decoration. SIZE: 8′ 5-1/2″ h x 10′ 5″ l x 2′ 4″ d. PROVENANCE: This cabinet belonged to Governor Joseph Robinson Bodwell (June 18, 1818 – December 15, 1887); 40th Governor of the State of Maine. CONDITION: Structurally very good.
