FOLK ART CARVED & PAINTED FIGURE OF A CLOWN. First half 20th century. Figure is sometimes referred to as “Walking Charlie”. He is clothed in a red spotted coat with a “2” on the breast, white shirt and striped tie, blue pants with white and red oversize shoes holding his cap in left hand on a square base. SIZE: 75″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine Texas Estate. CONDITION: With several old shrinkage cracks. Paint remains vibrant, but with losses overall and dryness due to weathering. Figure may have had an implement in right hand which is now absent. 9-22954 (800-1,200)
