ANGLO-INDIAN MAHOGANY & CAMPHOR CAMPAIGN CHEST WITH DESK. First half 19th century. Case in two parts; upper section with rectangular top and molded edges over single long drawer above a central hinged drawer opening to a baize writing surface beneath a frieze drawer, the well fitted with pigeon holes. Desk flanked by a bank of two short drawers and a deep drawer simulating a bank of two. All above a single long drawer. Lower case fitted with two long drawers. Case sides are fitted with brass carrying handles. The whole on a molded plinth raised on turned bun feet. SIZE: 48-1/2″ h x 45″ w x 21″ d. PROVENANCE: Robert Frederick Woolworth Estate, Monmouth, Maine. (F.W. Woolworth Store). CONDITION: Repolished with nice patina. Retains original inset hardware, backboards original as are feet.
