ORIENTAL SILK WALL HANGING. 19th century. Fine example of a mountainous river landscape depicting a series of buildings and small vessels in the foreground and mountains in the middle and foregrounds, all on an indigo ground. SIZE: 31″ x 36-1/2″, mounted on rod. PROVENANCE: Connecticut family home which descended from Sarah Upson Goodrich (Mrs. Oliver R. Beckwith) who descended from the Rev. Charles Chauncey, President of Harvard College and Elder William Brewster. Sarah was a member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. CONDITION: With extensive deterioration to fabric and with fading. 9-21867 (200-400)
