HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY SEWING/WRITING STAND. Circa 1800. England. In two parts, the upper section fitted with a carrying handle joined to a three quarter splashguard, the cabinet fitted with an arrangement of five drawers, each with an ivory handle. The lower section, a rectangular table; the top fitted with half brass round molding to accommodate the top section. The table fitted with a single drawer opening to an interior with hinged writing surface, inkwell compartment, and pen tray, raised on delicate tapered square legs joined by a three-quarter box stretcher. SIZE: 42″ h overall, 28 3/4″ h of table x 19″ w x 17″ overall d. CONDITION: Professionally re polished with rich reddish brown color and retaining original hardware and fittings. Table drawer missing one knob otherwise very good. 9-20059 (500-800)
