TWO NEW ENGLAND BANISTER-BACK SIDE CHAIRS IN BLACK PAINT. Late 18th/early 19th century. Each with double-arched crest rail above four split banister slats, the ring-turned stiles with knopped finials above a woven trapezoidal rush seat, raised on ring- and sausage-turned frontal legs, joined by double box stretcher. SIZE: 1st: 45-3/4″ h. 2nd: 43-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Each structurally good overall, both with early painted surfaces, the shorter example with damage to original woven seat. 9-99053 (600-900)
