UNSIGNED (American, Mid-19th Century) PORTRAIT OF SUSAN AUGUSTA AND HER SON GEORGE. Wonderful oil on canvas double portrait shows an elegant young woman wearing a black dress with lace collar and large hair memorial pin. She holds a small book in her hand which is open showing a page with a picture. Her son is depicted in a colorful dress and stands behind her on the sofa. A large red swag curtain is to right side. Housed in its original period gold frame. An Edward Dechaux New York canvas stamp. SIZE: 36″ x 30″. PROVENANCE: From a Yarmouthport, MA Estate. CONDITION: 1/2″ scrape with losses in red curtain, appears to have some old restoration, otherwise very good. 9-99084 (800-1,600)
