TWO WORKS: CATTLE IN A PANORAMIC LANDSCAPE & MARINE SCENE WITH STONE ARCH. 1) Ungined (British School, 19th Century). Large oil on canvas scene shows a man in blue coat atop a white horse leading cows to a watering hole. Several cows are at the water while others follow. Low hills dotted with trees and one with windmill, are seen under mixed skies of white clouds, blue sky and threatening storm. Housed in a modern gilt molded wood frame. Back canvas stamp “R. Davis”. 2) Signed (Continental, 19th Century). Unframed oil on canvas nautical scene shows a coastline having a large stone arching formation. All seen under a moonlit cloud filled sky. A sailboat with four figures approach the arch. Signed indistinctly lower left. SIZE: 1) 30″ x 50″. 2) 27-3/4″ x 39″. PROVENANCE: From a large Boston, MA area Estate. CONDITION: 1) In need of some restoration to paint loss at bottom edge and puncture in sky, craquelure. Otherwise good. 2) Craquelure, surface dirt, fair to good. 9-99307, 9-99325 (500-1,000)
