CHINESE CARVED HARDWOOD SQUAREBACK ARMCHAIR. Second quarter 20th century. The stepped crestrail joined to backswept styles centering a conforming splat with two panels, each carved with a bird on a flowering branch. The square stepped arms with scrolling elements joined to the rectangular chamfered seat raised on square molded legs centering a carved pediment apron and joined by a mortised box stretcher. SIZE: 35″ h of back, 18″ h of seat. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ & Portland, ME. CONDITION: Structurally very good condition, retains original surfaces. 9-96189 (600-900)
