ROSA MARIE BONHEUR (French, 1822-1899) TWO WORKS: “COMANCHE VILLAGE” AND “INDIAN CUSTOMS”. 1) Two-scene pencil drawing shows a landscape with tepee, figures, dunes and water. Titled “Dunes at St. Louis, Missouri”. Titled “Comanche Village, Missouri” showing an Indian Chief on rearing horseback meeting a man on horseback. Below which is a small scene of buffalo hunting and line of Braves on horseback. Signed bottom right “Rosa B. 2) Pencil drawing illustration showing a large buffalo hunt. Inscription as follows: “Illustration of the Manners, Customs, et Condition of the most American Indians by George Catlin, London… 1876”. There appears to be a title in French “Maqui qui troupeau di bizon”. Unsigned. Both housed in a gilt carved wood modern frame with linen matte and inner gold liner. SIZE: Sight: 5-3/4″ x 9″ (horizontal and vertical). PROVENANCE: Attached to reverse is a Gerald P. Peters label, also a label from the Collection of Robert L. B.
