SIGNED (19th/20th Century) THE YOUNG BOAT MODEL BUILDER. Large oil on canvas scene shows a young boy with blue shirt and straw hat and holding a small ship model in hand. He is getting advice from a seasoned fisherman who sits beside him and he is in the process of mending a large fish net. A young maiden stands behind. The boy sits on a wood crate which has been signed by the artist which is illegible. Under blacklight the signature appears to read “H Hambleson” Housed in a magnificent period wide gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. An outstanding work by an artist of great competence. SIZE: 28″ x 36″. CONDITION: Relined, very good with minor inpainting. 9-94490 (10,000-15,000)
