PAIR OF PERSIAN WATERCOLOR MINIATURES. 17th Century. One depicts a woman in a Sedan chair on the back of a camel, with a shepherd and sheep in the background. The other depicts four warriors on horseback and in combat. One soldier is armed with bow and arrow, another with a lance. Both have writing in or outside the margin. Identically housed in gilt and painted frames with green mattes. SIZE: 9-3/4″ x 6-1/2″ and 8-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Private collection of Dr. & Mrs. Winfield Gibbs, Sunbury, PA.; Charles Hamilton Auction, 1/30/69. CONDITION: Some small tears, stains and foxing. Generally very good. 9-92270 (200-400)
