FINE AMERICAN ROSEWOOD AND WALNUT VICTORIAN FOUR-PIECE BEDROOM SUITE. Circa 1880. Comprised of a half-tester bed, double-door armoire, marble top chest of drawers with mirror, and a marble top commode with mirror. Each with a scrolling crest applied with foliate and floral carvings centering a fan with bellflower above the molded cornice, the frieze with scrolling leaftips with an egg-and-dart apron flanked by acanthus corbels, supported by spiral twist pilasters with acanthus pediment. The bed with similar paneled headboard, the footboard with cylinder-form crest rail. The wardrobe with a pair of cupboard doors, each fitted with a shaped beveled mirror, the surround with faceted engaged half-columns surmounted by scrolling leaftips, opening to an interior fitted with shelves, the base with serpentine front having a pair of aligned short drawers, raised on scrolled feet headed by leaftips. The chest of drawers with mirror similarly decorated, the rose marble top with serpentine front edge above the conforming case fitted with a pair of aligned short drawers over two long drawers above the shaped apron, raised on scrolling feet with leaftips, terminating in brass-capped casters. The commode with mirror of similar design, with conforming marble splashguard, the case fitted with a serpentine long drawer over two short drawers and a cupboard door. CONDITION: All four pieces professionally restored and refinished, retaining original parts and elements, with no damages noted.
