BIRJAND ORIENTAL CARPET, EAST PERSIA. Mid-20th century. This fanciful garden carpet with an oval central wine red and indigo central medallion decorated with urns on a blue-black field within a surround of flowers, guarded with four oval medallions, each with two human figures centering polychrome palaces, further within a border of panels, each with a floral filled urn, some with columns and birds, all within a main border of scrolling floral latticework and horse-like animals. SIZE: 11’8″ x 9’4″. CONDITION: Minimal wear, minimal old insect damage along edges, otherwise very good. 9-95118 (1,500-2,500)
