BOW-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR IN BLACK PAINT, PROBABLY PHILADELPHIA. Circa 1800. The bowed crest rail above six spindles, continuing to serpentine mahogany arms tenoned to the hoop back and all joined to the shield-shaped seat, raised on simulated and swelled splayed legs joined by a similar H-stretcher. Now in black paint over original chocolate paint. SIZE: 36″ h. of back. 16-1/2″ h. of seat. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Chad Richards, Camden, Maine.
