MINIATURE PORTRAIT ON IVORY OF A WOMAN. Half portrait showing a young woman with black dress having a lace collar and wearing a lace head scarf. Inscribed on back paper in period writing “C. Washburn New York, 1843″. Housed in what appears to be its original leather covered half case with gilt oval. The case probably had a cover which is not present. Mid 19th Century. SIZE: 3-3/4″ x 3”. CONDITION: 2″ tight crease to left shoulder area, otherwise very good. 9-95744 (300-400)
