GEORGE LORING BROWN (AMERICAN, 1814-1889) NEW HAMPSHIRE LANDSCAPE. Large oil on wood panel landscape scene shows a river cascading through large boulders along a steep bank with rock ledge and trees. A low mountain is seen beyond. A scene reminiscent of the White Mountain area of New Hampshire. Signed lower right, “GEO. L. BROWN”. A man is seen ankle-deep next to shoreline. All under a light blue and white cloud sky. Housed in a magnificent reproduction gesso-decorated gilt frame with carved gilt liner. SIZE: 27-1/2″h x 35-1/2″w. CONDITION: There is a tight horizontal crack at left middle, some crackalure and in-painting, otherwise very good. 9-95475 (8,000-12,000)
