LARGE AMERICAN BRASS BALANCE SCALE. Circa 1900. The balance arm stamped with the numeral “2”: one end with a suspended tray, the other with a suspended circular pan, the circular pan stamped “CIA”. Raised on a brass column fitted with balance gauge joined to the cast brass base with incised numeral “2085”. This scale is believed to have been used on a British gun boat during World War I. SIZE: 44-1/2″ h. x 36″ l. of arm. PROVENANCE: From a Bangor, Maine collection. CONDITION: In good condition overall with normal dents and scratches from use, scale retains a single 8-lb. cylindrical weight. 9-92366 (500-700)
