UNUSUAL AND FINE NEW ENGLAND PAINT DECORATED DOCUMENT BOX IN ORIGINAL PAINT. Late 18th/early 19th Century. The whimsical squiggle decoration centering a rectangular panel painted with the initials: “SBO” (note the “S” in reverse). The rectangular lid mounted on “H” hinges joined to the conforming box constructed of rose-head nails. The whole lined with original paper. SIZE: 9”h x 18”l x 10-1/2”d. CONDITION: Overall original condition. The original color of blue has since faded to a green-gray. Base color and decoration both appear original. 9-90721 MD (2,000-3,000)
