JAMES HERON (British-1919) WHARF AT ALEXANDRIA. Large oil on canvas scene shows a city at the edge of water with boats and wharfs. A steam and sail ship is seen off buildings all under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed on lower right “J. Heron”. Housed in its original fancy flower decorated gilt gesso wide frame which retains its original artist plaque. Retains an original label on reverse with title. SIZE: Canvas: 25-1/2 X 37”. Outside frame size: 39-1/2” x 51”. CONDITION: Minor gesso loss to frame and light craquelure. Very good. 9-90546 SM (1,000-2,000)
