NARCISSE VIRGILE DIAZ DE LA PENA (French, 1808-1876) THE FAGGOT GATHERER. Outstanding oil on canvas landscape shows a figure gathering wood in a grove of trees next to a dirt road with farm in the distance. Billowy white clouds are seen with spots of blue sky. Signed lower right “N. Diaz”. Housed in its original wide multiple layer gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 18” x 24”. CONDITION: One patch to reverse with corresponding inpainting.
