JOHN ANSTER FITZGERALD (British, 1832-1906) THE OYSTER GIRL. Oil on canvas scene shows a young girl holding an open oyster up to a customer. She has long dark brown hair and a hat with tattered clothing and tattered shoes. Beside her she has formed an oyster shell igloo out of the used oyster shells. Inscribed signature on right bottom “J A Fitzgerald”. Housed in a double pierced gesso decorated gilt frame with gold liner. SIZE: 30” x 20”. CONDITION: Very good, some inpainting. 9-71712 (6,000-8,000)
