EDWIN LORD WEEKS (American, 1849-1903) “MOOR IN BLUE, RESTING”. Oil on canvas backed by cardboard study shows a man in Moorish dress sitting back toward the viewer on a large rock. He wears a blue and white traditional outfit with fez. In period writing on the back of the cardboard which appears to be original to the framing and the painting “Moor (in blue), Resting by E. L. Weeks” and “Out of door” Study”. “Rock and background by A. S. T. 1905. (On a mountain pass in Morocco, Path leads round the boulder down into valley”. Housed in its period gilt wood molded frame. SIZE: 20” x 15-1/4”. CONDITION: Loose on cardboard, surface dirt. Otherwise good. 9-29373 (2000-4000)
