CARVED GRANDFATHER CLOCK BY THOMAS ORE. The dial marked “Thos. Ore, Tong” with white enamel paint having flying bird, bow tie, and flowers. Two winding holes and minute dial as well as date dial. The case with tombstone door, bracket cutout base, all over carved which may be of a later date. The removable hood has columns, pediment top with two finials. Brass works with two iron weights and pendulum present. Thomas Ore was a renowned clock maker and was from Birmingham, England. He worked between 1759-1786. PROVENANCE: From the Allen Graves Estate. SIZE: 86” h x 19-1/2” at widest x 10-1/2” at deepest. CONDITION: Board that covers hood at to is missing. Dial has some flaking and chipping, cracks in base, crack in left window, otherwise good. 4-54383 (1,500-2,500)
