MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE (American, 1904-1971) U.S. AIRSHIP “AKRON”. Framed photo of the airship Akron at dock partially under large hanger. Pen signed on photographic print by photographer. Framed in a specially designed “duralumin” frame. Engraved “Winner Park Filling Station Third Annual Goodyear Dealers Zeppelin Race July-August 1931” “This frame is made of duralumin used in girder construction of the United States airship Akron, built by the Goodyear Zeppelin Corporation”. PROVENANCE: Descended in the family of the owner Obert E. Lemerise of Corrina, Maine where the Park Filling Station was located. SIGHT SIZE: 17-1/4” x 22-3/4”. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. There appears to be some stains and wrinkling to edges, bottom 1” has stain with 1” sq having lifted image. Otherwise good. 9-97259 (3,000-5,000)
