PAIR OF LIMOGES ENAMEL PLAQUES OF ROMAN EMPERORS. Mid-17th Century. These plaques are executed in the style of Jacques Laudin (1627-1695), who, along with his son, executed several series of portrait medallions of the twelve Caesar’s, after engravings by Marcantonio Raimondi. Each plaque is on a round copper blank showing “Caesar – Caligvla IIII” and “Tiberivs – Caesar III”. Vibrant colors and finely done. Housed in an open gilt wood frame with tan material background. SIZE: 4-3/4” dia. CONDITION: Extensive loss to white margin, central bust area appears to be untouched. 9-95563 (500-1,000)
