PAIR OF MASSACHUSETTS CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS. 3rd quarter 18th century. Each with carved serpentine molded crest rail, the ears carved with leaftips, above two conforming slats, joined to the overupholstered trapezoidal seat, raised on square molded frontal legs and backswept rear legs joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: Each 37″ h. of back, 17-1/4″ h. of seat. CONDITION: One chair with repaired center slat and re-attached central stretcher. Both chairs with restoration and refinishing. 9-95223 (1,000-1,500)
