A FINE KOREAN STORAGE CHEST OR “JANG”, CHOSUN DYNASTY. Circa 1870. The rectangular top with applied molded edge above the conforming case fitted with opposing hinged brass-bound lids opening to storage compartments flanked by a short drawer above a configuration of drawers, raised on frontal bracket feet with shaped returns, the whole with pierced brass “Sungsungi” hardware and fittings. The chest constructed of “Zelkova” burl wood. SIZE: 33-1/2″ h. x 42″ w. x 18″ d. CONDITION: With original surfaces and hardware and nice old patina, showing acceptable shrinkage cracks.
