GOOD NEW ENGLAND CHILD’S SACK-BACK WINDSOR ARMCHAIR. Late 18th century. The bowed crest rail joined to seven spindles, the arms with flattened paddle grips above the one-board saddle seat, raised on splayed simulated bamboo turned legs joined by a swelled H-stretcher. SIZE: 28-1/4″ h. of back. 11-3/4″ h. of seat. PROVENANCE: The Cushman family farm, Winslow, Maine. CONDITION: Retains original brown wash, with old crackled surfaces; repaired split to proper left arm, otherwise very good. 9-95434 (800-1,200)
